We’re thrilled to be teaming up with the Tea for Two team again to present:

Darn Hot Tea!

It’s Franky Manning’s birthday this month!! To celebrate, Tea for Two and Darn Hot Swing Collective are collaborating on two full days of workshops and a swing social with live music!

Presented by the Tea for Two crew, join us Saturday 30th for workshops inspired by the dancing of Frankie Manning, a history talk, and finish the day with a social with live music from the Offbeats, performances, and more!

We have some incredible teachers coming in and they’re so excited to share some of Frankie’s dancing with you.

Continue the fun by joining us on Sunday 31st at the Djerring Centre with the Darn Hot crew for some challenge balboa classes followed by a small history talk before a DJed social.

These workshops are aimed at those already comfortable with the fundamentals who wish to develop their skills. We will be moving at a relatively fast pace, and will expect that attendees are familiar with up-hold and down-hold basics, out and ins, lollies, swivels and throw-outs.

Schedule:

    • 9.30-11: Norma and Frankie’s classic moves with Jarrod Bates and Kathryn Kelly

    • 11.15-12.45: Frankie rhythms and musicality with Ramona Staffeld and Joel Kohn

    • 12.45-1.30 - Lunch break! We recommend bringing your own if possible.

    • 1.45-2.30 - Free culture/history talk with Ramona Staffeld

    • 2.30-4: Fresh takes on the classic Frankie with Josh Varcoe and Steph Ashby Break

    • 5-8: Social! Grab dinner/drinks with us after at the Birmingham hotel, it’s just around the corner

    • 11:00-12.30: Refining connection and movement with Tim and Tara

    • 12.30-1.30: Lunchbreak

    • 1.30-3.00: Throwing shapes with Kris and Raif

    • 3pm: A Brief History of Bal discussion with Kris

    • 3.30-5.30: Social with DJs (TBA) (BYO permitted!)

We’d love you to join us for the whole weekend if you can. To this end, we're initially offering full day passes for Saturday and Sunday (with somewhat limited availability for the Sunday due to the practicalities of classes in the Djerring Centre). If you buy day passes for both the Frankie Manning Birthday Bash and Balboa Bonanza you can get an extra $10 discount (applied at checkout up to 2 persons per checkout)

  • Full weekend pass: $125+BF. It includes all 5x classes and 2x socials!

  • Saturday full pass: $80+BF - includes all 3 workshops and the social!

  • Individual classes: $25+BF each

  • Social: $25+BF - Buying any individual class will give you a $10 discount on the social pass!

  • Sunday full pass: $55+BF - includes both workshops and social on Sunday!

  • Individual classes: $25+BF each

  • Social only: $15+BF
